Particulars: Well, Lowell's "cold" is, according to the physician's assistant at the Glasgow Clinic, a double ear infection and acute sinusitis. Probably doesn't help that he had a low-grade fever (100 degrees) and a terrible cough and chest congestion that kept him up most of the night. We asked the PA to practice his best sports medicine and get Lowell back on the bike. He stated that Lowell could get back on the bike that day even though he had prescribed a Z-pack and Mucinex-D.
Fortunately Lowell decided to put his bike up on the rack and he rode with Hannah and I first to Wolf Point, Montana and then Culbertson, Montana. He could barely keep his eyes open and hit the bed as soon as we checked in to our motel.
Mike, Joe and Kelly took off for the day while Lowell was at the doctor. From our vantage point in the truck, it was a beautiful day through the rolling hills and grasslands on eastern Montana passing through the Fort Peck Reservation.
A report from Kelly Thompson: Travel today was from Glasgow to Cuthbertson MT - 105 miles riding through the Sioux reservation @ Fort Peck. This is the missouri River Valley. The pic is of the Missouri Breaks. Lunch in Wolf Point where we were the only caucasian guys. Headwind this afternoon.
A report from Joe Thompson: Your correspondent and Kelly at "second breakfast" in Wolf Point MT.
We rode 105 miles in variable wind from Glasgow to Culbertson, still along or paralleling Hwy 2."We" consisted of Mike, Kelly and me today as Lowell took a medical day off to get diagnosed and treated for bilateral ear and sinus infections. He says he will ride Friday. We will see, and if he does, we will have the support truck close at hand.
Now we are in the Missouri River Valley. The air is decidedly heavy here compared to back nearer the rockies.
We hope to be in Minot by Saturday to spend a rest day there on Sunday.
Interesting people along the way:
