Big Sky Country? Absolutely!

Start:  Havre RV Park, Havre, Montana
End:  Edgewater Inn, Malta, Montana

Mileage:  90 miles
Weather:  WINDY!  Fortunately the wind pushed the bikers to Malta.

States Conquered:  Washington, Idaho
States Being Conquered:  Montana
States to be Conquered:  North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine

Particulars:  The skies are BIG in Montana.  I don't know what it is, but as I look out the window of the truck, the blue sky seems to go on and on and on . . . .  It's beautiful!

The men asked me to check out a campground that was situated between Malta and Saco.  They had been told that the Sleeping Buffalo Resort, Hot Springs and Campground was a nice place to stay.  Well, as discovered, it has seen better days.  It was sad to see.  At one point it looked like this had been a very nice place with a golf course, swimming pools and water slides.  It was still a campground and RV Park with a small store, laundry and showers, but the pools and slides were closed and no sign of a golf course in the pasture land.  There was one amenity that attracted out attention--several horseshoe pits!

We also checked out the State Park up the road next to the reservoir.  It had nice lakeside camping, but with the wind, there would be no sleeping.  The water was very choppy with whitecaps!

Back to Malta where our sleep was interrupted by the fact that we were next to the train tracks!

  1. Hopefully all this wind and rain doesn't have lasting effects on Lowell's hair!
